Lyside Sulphur, Kricogonia lyside. This is a non-butterfly of the month, as your chances of seeing one this year are virtually nil. It can be one of the "southern influx" species that arrive in or after the summer rains, and sometimes persist into December. Evidently our unusually frigid winter and arid spring combined to depress both the number and diversity of butterflies on the wing, and the Horseshoe Two conflagration dealt the spring and summer populations another blow.
